Our Mission

It is the Mission of Precision to provide our patients with optimum healthcare by exemplifying the highest standards of professionalism. While working as a team, we will strive to treat our patients and one another with respect, honesty and integrity, to provide a positive patient service atmosphere.

Our History: THEN AND NOW-PRECISION ORTHOPAEDIC SPECIALTIES, INC.

In 1991 our orthopaedic practice began as an offshoot of a large group of physicians headquartered at Lutheran Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio known as Orthopedics and Neurosurgery (O&N). Dr. George Kellis and an associate were the two physicians from O & N who ventured to the far east side to Chardon, Ohio to hang their shingle and practice their specialty-orthopaedics. Before the two orthopods arrived, Dr. Michael Kellis had set up shop in Chardon practicing Sports Medicine and becoming a favorite doctor in the community.

Growth of the new endeavor in Chardon was steady and rapid. In 1995 we were able to establish our own practice, Precision Orthopaedic Specialties, Inc. (“Precision”). Joining Dr. George Kellis (General Orthopaedics & Spine Surgery) in the new venture was Dr. Michael Kellis (Sports Medicine) and Dr. Gregory Sarkisian (General Orthopaedics). In 1997 Dr. Mark Mendeszoon (Podiatry) joined Precision followed by Dr. Amardeep Chauhan (Physical Medicine) in 1999. Dr. Laszlo Harmat (Upper Extremity Specialist/General Orthopaedics) was welcomed into the practice in the fall of 2006 with Dr. Kraig Solak (General Orthopaedics/Sports Medicine joining Precision in the fall of 2007. All are full partners. The most recent addition to the staff of physicians at Precision is Dr. Lisa Brown (Interventional Pain Management). Dr. Brown adds a unique and valuable facet to Precision’s ability to provide comprehensive care for their patients with musculoskeletal/sports medicine injuries and/or conditions.

The initial staff of 1991 consisted of the two physicians and five employees. We have grown to eight physicians and a staff of sixty-plus employees. In addition to the physicians, Precision employs: physical/occupational therapists, RN’s, athletic trainers, x-ray technologists, medical assistants, billing personnel, receptionists, transcriptionists and ancillary clerical staff.

The original office space, of 1991, was a rented suite located about half a mile south of our present location. Due to our rapid growth, we soon outgrew that space which afforded us the opportunity to build at our present location, 150 Seventh Avenue in Chardon, Ohio. The Seventh Avenue location is our main medical campus and corporate headquarters. It also houses Precision Orthopaedic Specialties, Inc. Physical Therapy.

We have two additional fully staffed offices: our office in Brooklyn, Ohio and our office in the Eltech building in Chardon, Ohio. Two satellite offices provide us the ability to extend our scope of patient care. One is in the UH Evans Middlefield Medical Center in Middlefield, Ohio, where we have seen patients since our inception in 1991. The other is located in South Russell.

The focus of our practice is superior medical care and customer service. Our physicians take great pride knowing they provide cutting edge medical treatments along with the knowledge and experience to give our patients the best outcomes. Treatment is tailored to each unique patient and their medical needs. Our caring team of physicians and staff strive to provide our patients with a rewarding and worthwhile experience.

The full spectrum of surgical and non-surgical management is used by Precision to treat patients. They were among the first in northeast Ohio to use minimally invasive techniques for joint replacement and spine surgery and are regarded as a premier center for joint replacement and reconstructive spine surgery. They implement the latest equipment such as navigation systems that allow a more precise execution of major spine and joint surgeries.

Precision has the ability to evaluate, diagnose, provide non-surgical or surgical treatment and rehabilitation for patients with on site physical therapy, aqua- therapy, x-ray, EMG, MRI, durable medical equipment which includes; orthotics, custom bracing and splinting.

Following surgery or treatment, an appropriate rehabilitation program is vital for restoring independence. Rehabilitation may incorporate conventional therapies such as superficial and deep heat treatments, cold, aqua therapy, traction and massage. It may also include an exercise regiment on sophisticated apparatus to build muscle strength and endurance.

Education on the proper use of body mechanics for the spine and joints, lifting techniques and coping skills complete the rehabilitation effort. All rehabilitation is personally directed by the physicians working with experienced physical therapists and athletic trainers.

The specialists at Precision realize that lives can be disrupted by injury and disease. It is our goal to help individuals overcome these difficulties by providing quality care, complemented by the most advanced technology and the philosophy of working with our patients to achieve good health.
